Head Of Technical Training Maintenance

Manage and maintain oversight of the initial and continuing training programs for technical disciplines for the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant (BNPP) to ensure effective capacity building. Oversee content of training to ensure staff are equipped with effective skills in line with industry leading practices. Technical Training includes the following disciplines: Electrical, Mechanical, Instrumentation & Control, Radiation Protection, Chemistry and Engineering.

Technical Training

  • Oversee Technical training staff to ensure all scheduled technical training is implemented on time with high quality.
  • Validate that an adequate number of qualified staff are prepared to support technical training program administration.
  • Direct and monitor technical instructor work to meet training needs and balance workload.
  • Oversee and approve technical training daily and weekly training schedule to ensure appropriate resource availability.
  • Oversee and approve the design, development and maintenance of training objectives, lesson plans, exercises, tests, and other training materials for technical training programs (utilizing the Systematic approach to Training (SAT) process as applicable) to remain in accordance with station procedures.
  • Validate that analysis of technical training target audience, learning goals, technical requirements, training environment, and structural characteristics is performed to establish instructional goals and objectives and identify the learning environment and learner’s existing knowledge and skills, so that resulting courses are effective.
  • Validate that Technical training programs are compliant with all regulatory requirements.
  • Track, analyze and communicate student performance to identify opportunities for improvement.

Technical Training Program Quality Improvement

  • Oversee Nawah and contractor training and equivalencies in order to ensure trainee feedback and management observation comments are dispositioned to improve technical training implementation.
  • Participate in self-assessments of the technical training program to identify improvement opportunities.

Training Expertise and Support

  • Review and provide input on required training, facilities, mock-up’s, materials and qualifications to ensure effective Technical training program implementation.
  • Validate that Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) are identified and supported in technical training material development and implementation to ensure Technical training program effectiveness.
  • Oversee and participate in Training Program Oversight Committee meetings to provide input regarding trainee performance during training and continuing training topic selection.
  • Establish and administer other training programs as required to manage training needs for BNPP.


  • Prepare and consolidate the Section’s budget and monitor financial performance during the year.

Operational Planning

  • Identify opportunities for the continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices to increase productivity and operational efficiency and update.
  • Provide input into the development of the Department’s systems and processes, as well develop, and implement the Section’s procedures, identifying opportunities for the continuous improvement of practices to increase productivity and operational efficiency.
  • Monitor, control, and report Operational and financial Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to the Section, to track performance and recommend corrective or mitigating actions.
  • Ensure that all relative reports are prepared timely and accurately, to meet the Section’s requirements and standards.

Health and Safety and Security

  • Ensure compliance to all relevant health, safety and environmental management policies, procedures and controls across the Division/Department/Section by the delivery of the Health and Safety Management Program to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high quality services and a responsible environmental attitude.
  • Follow all relevant Security policies, processes, procedures and instructions to ensure security compliance in all aspects of work, by applying them on self, others and corporate assets.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate requirements for adherence to policies, procedures and instructions related to Crisis Management and Business Continuity to continue mission critical activities.

People Management

  • Manage the effective achievement of the Organization’s objectives by setting individual targets, developing and motivating staff, and providing formal and informal constructive feedback and appraisal – in order to maximize subordinate and department performance.
  • Contribute to the development of UAE National employees in a manner which supports the objectives of the corporation and its Emiratization strategy.
  • Contribute to knowledge dissemination/sharing in a way that assists with building internal capabilities of UAE Nationals where applicable and maximize their effective performance.


Bachelors Degree in Science

7 years of relevant experience, out of which:

  • 1 year of Nuclear Power Plant experience.

Shall have knowledge consistent with the technical content and requirements of the training programs for which they are responsible.

Technical Competency

  • Ensure Commitment to the Nawah Fundamentals.
  • Knowledge on Nuclear plant Maintenance, Engineering and Rad Protection/ Chemistry processes.
  • Proficient in the knowledge and implementation of the Systematic approach to Training (SAT) process.
  • Knowledge of instructional techniques through training or experience.
  • Presentation Skills.
  • Coaching Skills.
